Traps, reaching 4cm to 5cm on adult 'Alien' flytraps, are abnormally long and narrow and extremely arched. Marginal lashes are short, pointed and somewhat widely spaced with additional tiny bumbs or nubs between each marginal lash. In addition to often having four or more standard-sized trigger hairs, each trap interior can have dozens of extremely tiny red hairs.
Alien's traps can capture prey but often do not close well because the laminae of the trap are thick and brittle.
