I would suggest that everyone take a minute to Google "Echinopsis hybrid flowers". Not only are they gorgeous but they can be larger than the plant.
Adding on to what Evenwind says, here's a little bit more info on Echinopsis cacti. The 2 Echinopsis which are the prizes above have genetics from Echinopsis pachanoi and Echinopsis bridgesii, which are both large columnar species with white flowers. The plants will probably reach 12+ feet at maturity if given the right conditions (definitely not suitable as houseplants
). I expect that both the plants will have white flowers. There are many Echinopsis hybrids in cultivation with flowers of various different colors. There are collectors that collect these hybrid plants with colorful flowers, and there are also those that collect "Sacred Cacti". Sacred Cacti are columnar plants with white flowers including E. pachanoi and E. bridgesii. They were grown by the indigenous people of South America for ritual purposes to cause hallucination.
