evenwind wrote: Tue Sep 05, 2023 9:27 pm I would suggest that everyone take a minute to Google "Echinopsis hybrid flowers". Not only are they gorgeous but they can be larger than the plant.
Adding on to what Evenwind says, here's a little bit more info on Echinopsis cacti. The 2 Echinopsis which are the prizes above have genetics from Echinopsis pachanoi and Echinopsis bridgesii, which are both large columnar species with white flowers. The plants will probably reach 12+ feet at maturity if given the right conditions (definitely not suitable as houseplants  ). I expect that both the plants will have white flowers. There are many Echinopsis hybrids in cultivation with flowers of various different colors. There are collectors that collect these hybrid plants with colorful flowers, and there are also those that collect "Sacred Cacti". Sacred Cacti are columnar plants with white flowers including E. pachanoi and E. bridgesii. They were grown by the indigenous people of South America for ritual purposes to cause hallucination. :geek:

Ya can’t fault the cat for being smart enough to know a good thing when he/she has found it.

Cats...are weird. We don't have any domesticated animals, haven't in several years. Several months back this gray tom cat started showing up. I could tell it was an older cat...kinda had a "rangey" look to it...a slight nervous tick in his head at times. Naturally we couldn't get close to him but he would make a low volume "meow" at us. He comes and goes...might not see him for a couple of weeks, then one day there he is sitting and staring at us....or maybe asleep on the doorsteps or a bench. He may hang around a few days and then....POOF!!!...he's gone again. Typical tom cat. Weird thing is he's picky about what he eats. We don't keep cat food here but offer scraps or maybe something we have in the refrigerator. I've watched this cat walk away from chicken....and SHRIMP!!!! He'll lay down two or three feet from it and look at it...and it'll still be there the next morning. Strange cat. He seems to be getting a little more at ease around us but I still feel like it trying to pick him up would be akin to grabbing a high-speed oscillating fan that had barbed-wire in the place of fan blades. Maybe the feline version of Cujo?

I saw these all over Honduras and Belize, I was very disappointed when I found I'm in too cold of a zone for them. Inconsolable really.

I already tried, it's not allowing a single pic to be deleted. The whole post will have to be deleted then re submitted, let it stand with a stern talking to about following instructions, or disqualified for posting multiple pics.

I don't think anyone will be surprised when a plant collector living in a desert enters a cactus, but here you go. A cactus.

I have maybe 20 or so of these orchid cacti that have bloomed, and selecting just one is a nightmare. Here's one I think looks nice. The sun really helps make it pop.

This one is called 'Marmalade Punch'.
