Is this a springtail? I’ve heard that they’re a beneficial pest and that they eat mold but if so should I not spray neem oil again?(last time was almost a week ago) Or should I just say to hell with em and keep up the treatments.

That insect is way too big to be a springtail.

adults grow only to between 1/32 and 1/8th of an inch in length. seems about right. MikeB, where are you looking? there was a stone like thing that i originaly thought to be the bug in question, but i think the bug is on the leaf on the upper middle of the picture

The bug in question is the one on the leaf with the only pitcher visible. What do you think it could be?

What else do you think It could be? The shape almost perfectly matches a springtail so I’m stumped on what else It could be.

the rock in the moss looks bit like some kinda pale worm, the tiny bug on the leaf looks like a springtail, especialy with the little anttenna that are half the bug's body length, that is a springtail

from what i've heard they're harmless and sometimes people will take them and put them in pitchers or on leaves for free food, now that i look hard at the "rock" i think it was just a wilted nepenthes leaf

Sure looks like a springtail tp me. Pings and sundews eat them. While they appear to be harmless, I do see them on pots wth seeds that I planted that did not germinate (no germination seen) so I am suspicious that they might attack just germinated seedlings that are very tiny, such asp ings and sundes. No evidence and could be a coincidence, but I take precautions when starting seeds to exclude them.

There was nothing for scale, and I assumed that plant was fairly large. In retrospect, I think it is a large springtail.

Thanks for the feedback I think so too, and I should’ve put something to scale but that plant is actually really small still

xanthoparmelia wrote: Fri Jun 26, 2020 10:13 pm Almost positively a springtail. They're harmless and may actually be beneficial, since they can feed your plants and also eat mold and fungus.
Thanks for the reply I knew about the mold and fungus part but they can get eaten by the traps? I had no idea I thought I’d have to take care of them myself if they weren’t springtails
