I'm a first-time pitcher owner (I bought the plant from a local garden centre along with a sundew - the place had no idea how to care for carnivorous plants judging by their conditions and I've had the plant for about a week, so I don't expect it to be in perfect health just yet) and noticed a few days ago that one of the pitchers had shut. I've not seen this before, and a long Google session brought up no explanations. It's since opened again, but it's still fairly baffling! That may have been the pitcher that I fed (I fed one of them a betta fish pellet, which I already use for my fly trap), so I'm not sure if it's a feeding mechanism for this variety? Either way, advice would be useful! :)

I don't think it's that - none of the pitchers were closed on the day I bought it (I have a photo from the day after I took it home, and all of the pitchers in the photo are clearly open). It's actually the biggest pitcher in the bunch, too.

Like Matt said that pitcher was forming and had not opened yet. Due to the change in environment it probably will stay like that, but the new growth should be fine once it acclimates to it's new home.

Here's the full plant when I got, compared to how it looks now - as you can see, all the pitchers were open to begin with, and after shutting for a bit this one now seems to dwarf the others!
