The Seed was planted 1/4/13, unfortunately rot has set in

New seeds arrive 9/7/13

This thread will become my grow log for amorphophallus titanum.

Heres a link with info about the plant: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amorphophallus_titanum

Pics of the seed are posted below!

Here are 2 pics of the seed (the closeup is amazing, and from a webcam!)

The seed is in the round pot, the other pot has seeds from a rare succulent species similar to lithops

now to wait until it germinates, I'm thinking about starting a thread on my Aloe Polyphylla seeds that have sent out a tiny white root

The seeds are for Conophytum Obcordellum

Back to the titan arum seed: when I got the seed a little wet it gave off the rotting flesh smell it's inflorescence produces. The smell is not noticeable now that the seed is in the pot, well unless you actually put your nose up to the soil and smell

So far the only problems I've had are maintaining temps at 26C, it's either cooking or freezing (not literally of course). Hopefully after it germinates it will handle these temperature swings.

Try that!

Tell us when you get a sprout

BTW, you did post it twice!
Damn this computer!! no, but I actually hadn't noticed that thanks! Fixing now.

The seed should sprout soon but there is no definitive germination time for this plant. :|
