I have my 5 Sarracenia's in a tub of water. I was wondering if it needs to be changed or just add water to keep it at a level. If it needs to be changed, how often?

Thanks in advance.

If you have a TDS meter, you can see if the total dissolved solids are accumulating in the water.
Sometimes, as the water evaporates and you add new water, the TDS keeps adding up. (The dissolved solids don’t evaporate).

I only changed mine once or twice a season. I second the notion of checking with a tds meter or aquarium strip that measure hardness.

My tap water is 24ppm TDS so if i just keep topping it off the TDS will keep rising. What i do it over fill so it pushes out water to keep the TDS down. For my indoor plants i use rain or filtered water to avoid having to flush.

Sometimes it is a good idea to flush the media out (water from top) with nothing under the pots. Then do the final one with the tray under, and then test the water. This is to make sure the media is not building up minerals, salts, other solids with the water from the tray method.

Interesting article on PPM and EC https://hydro-gardens.com/ec-to-tds-conversion/. Regardless of what PPM scale is being used, .09 is going to be a low ppm number.
