You don't want to keep them too moist while they're dormant. It can encourage root rot. That's generally less of a problem when it's warmer outside. But as others have said, never let it dry completely, no matter the season.
Well what should I do to not keep it too moist as I have heard that bringing it back indoors might confused it and it might die. How does root rot look like?/How do I recognize root rot in my VFT?

I bought a very inexpensive plastic dome online that I use when it's been very rainy and very cold. It helps shield from the wind and keep them from being too wet for too long. A lot of people disagree on whether moving them back and forth is damaging. I believe there's nothing wrong with bringing them inside from time to time for a short period. The goal during dormancy is to leave them just slightly moist.
