Through researching Sarracenia purpurea online, I was surprised to find that they grow just 20 minutes from where I live. Needless to say I hopped in the Jeep and drove out to see them as soon as the snow started melting. Here are some pictures I took, can't wait to go back soon to snap some shots of them flowering!

What surprised me more than the fact that thousands are growing so close to me, was that the ones close to the road were covered in salt (and must be each winter) yet suffer no ill effects.

Absolutely amazing! There are wild S. purps where I live, and they truly are spectacular plants. You just have to love the short purple tubes filled with water and fooled insects. Thanks for sharing.

That's really awesome. Looks like it's not only a reason to go see the pitcher plants but that area looks like a great place to spend an afternoon hiking or picnicking. At the very least, exploring to see what else you can find.
