Anyone had this happen to you before? I was looking inside the pitchers and was wondering why there wasn't a hoard of ants scurrying at the bottom. Now I know why.

They are currently taking whatever insect parts they can carry, out of the pitchers.

I see a lot of sugar ants going in and out of my purpurea, but rarely see any actually get caught. I've never seen them take eat any of the insects in the trap ( though I have seen some sort of gnat or midge do this). They just drink the nectar in the traps.
