What's wrong with my purpurea?#377922

So this poor sarracenia purpurea purpurea didn't do to well last year. I was happy to see some new growth just a few weeks ago, but today I noticed that the new pitcher has shriveled up. It has been very wet and humid here in central Iowa, but I have kept the plant under a covered porch for the most part. The plant is tray watered and I always keep at least an inch of water in the tray. What could be wrong with it?

Did it get hit by a freeze? The rhizome looks good and the new growth would certainly be susceptible to a freeze.

The temperature hasn't dropped below 35 degrees since it started growing that pitcher. It was in the high 70s last week, maybe that's what dried it up? The plant gets about 10+ hours of direct sun, so I don't think that's a problem.

Kind of a hairy plant, tap water for him. I ain't spendin' my money on store bought water for him lessen he cleans up real nice like!
