I'm planning to put some CPs on my plant rack that I just bought, it is under my wax apple tree, so I would like to ask if caterpillar poop and dead leaves are ok for sundews, pinguiculata, heliamphora, and other "open" traps. If they are not ok I will just move my rack. I am worried that the open traps will catch leaves and caterpillar poop instead of bugs.

I can only really speak from a Pinguicula perspective (ohhh... I like that... anyway, getting distracted!), and it'll depend on what type of butterworts you're growing (this is more due to basic growing conditions than poop and foliage, mind). Though, generally, I don't think caterpillar poo or dead leaves will be an issue, considering where some of these plants grow in their natural environments. Both organic substances will decay, so as long as it's not a liberal coating that could affect the nutritional value of the soil, I don't think it'd be a problem. I may be mistaken, though!
