Hi, so recently my vfts flowered and i pollinated them, but only a few days after the flowers closed it started to die. this didn't match with what i read, which was that it took 6 weeks to ripen, and i'm afraid that i let it get too close to the grow light so it got burnt before it had time to make the seeds. the flowers seemed fine when close to the light though.

If I understand you correctly, your flower opened, you pollinated it, it closed, and the flower but not the stalk died?

I think everything's going perfect! Over the next few weeks a seed pod will probably grow from the middle of the dead flower.

If the flower buds shriveled and turned black, then pollination wasn't successful. Otherwise, the buds would have stayed green and swelled to about twice their original size. 2-3 weeks later, the bud covers turn brown or black and peel open, revealing the seeds.

I've had that happen (flowers die without setting seed). Either my plants were not vigorous enough to produce seed, or some cultivars just aren't very good seeders.

I had two plants put up late stalks, and I let them go. One flowered vigorously, the other, meh. Both are deathcubes.
I don't know if it's due to them being late stalks, poor seed setting genes, any of a number factors, or a combination of it all, but they all blackened and got crispy before any seed formed.
If your flower stems stay green, and you see a swelling at the base of where the flower was, you'll probably get some seed.

I have had no luck this season with any of my flytraps setting seed. I watch for the right time, cross pollinated, turned down the lights, put on romantic music ... nothing.

Well you're supposed to buy them dinner first, duh. I hear they like spiders and caviar.
