Here is an update of my royal red seedlings in culture.

I now have them on multiplication media and they all show little differences in character. Some of them clump, others show less clumping.

A few things I have noticed so far with tissue culture is, the more fresh roots the plant has, the better it grows in culture. This especially goes for using hormones. In strong concentrated hormone (cytokinin) media, production of roots is small to none. For example I have a seedling which showed normal growth in ½ MS. After a few months I transplanted this seedling in strong concentrated kinetin medium, where it is in for 3 weeks or so. The growth slows down and no new leaves have developed yet. Its roots are brown and woody but my guess is this is not satisfactory for the uptake of hormones. My explants which are doing good have been gradually introduced to hormones, with each transplant a more concentrated cytokinin media.

They look good Youri!

What do you mean by royal red seedlings? Are these seeds from a self-pollinated royal red plant? If so, they'd be more accurately called Royal Red F1 plants, right?

In any case, good looking plants and great information about the hormones.
