Hey everyone,

I got a glazed(or painted I can’t tell) terra-cotta pot but the bottom has exposed clay. Can I just spray clear coat or some kind of epoxy to seal the bottom and prevent minerals from seeping out if it’s sitting in standing water? If I can figure out how to attach a picture I will.

Thank you for any tips!

I use the Rustoleum ultra cover on my outside water treys, I buy the cheap plastic under bed storage bins and paint them so they don't degrade in sunlight. So I know it won't hurt plants.

looks better than clear bpa plastic too

@optique WOAH that Rustoleum idea is super smart. Do you only spray the outside of the box, or the inside as well?

I get inside also but being under water will peel the paint so i don't focus that area. I ruff up the plastic with a scotch brite pad so it sticks better.

It my seem like a lot of work but the cheap tubs would get brittle and crack in six months of direct sun, UV proof alternatives cost 2500% more.

paint sticks to clay very well so it will not peel

Cool, I assume the paint doesn't leach any chemicals once it is dry? I'd been thinking about buying white 1020 trays but this will be much nicer (and cheaper!).
