I use Quikrete play sand for all my CPs and it's very safe. I recommend spending an extra $2 for the play sand just to be safe. I measured the tds (mineral content) and it's under 30 ppm which is good for flytraps. I've heard that the All Purpose Quikrete sand doesn't have as good quality as Quikrete play sand. It may or may not have a higher mineral content which is bad. You can find easily Quikrete play sand at Lowes.

As long as salt doesn't spray onto your plant or into your plant's water tray, you're good. :)

I use the quikrete pool filter sand because the grains are larger.

Thanks, everyone. My dad actually does soil/sand testing for a living and I forgot that he can just bring home some leftover masonry sand from work! I assume that will work?
