My local garden store has some young Nepenthes that are roughly 3” for $18 US. These are unidentified, but they also carry some large Ventrats. Would you folks gamble on better variety? Just asking for input.

How much room do you have?
A ventrata will vine out six feet or more, and many other hybrids will go more than that.

Right now enough space for another plant, but I have two spectabilis x robcantleyi that are growing rather quickly and my Ventrata has grown about 5” in the last month. My biggest concern is identifying it.

I ended up buying it. She ended up selling it for $11… it’s brighter red than my Ventrata so maybe it is something a little more interesting.

That redness could be due to more intense light. It will be interesting to see what the pitchers look like.

There was an interesting sticker on the pot. A black and white illustration of a cat’s face. Maybe it’s an independent grower.
