My multifida extrema is covered in fruit flies, and today it caught a huge housefly. If seems like these catch the most prey compared to all my other dews.

Lots of surface area, but Sarracenia take the cake. At the end of the year, every pitcher is stacked with bugs inches deep.
A few of my pitchers were over 30 inches tall, so they had a couple of feet of bugs in them by fall. Thousands of carcasses.

@pitchergrower, the branches of multifida extrema is a nightmare flight path for a gnat or fly...all those sparkling dew drops and the criss-crossing branches and the fly doesn't have a chance!!!

@ChefDean, I've yet to get a big pitcher growing, but hopefully this summer I'll get to witness the gluttony that they exhibit!!!!

I was comparing multifida extrema to other dews, but yes, I agree that Sarrs catch more than dews.

You should have seen my Sarracenia leucophylla "Wilkerson Bog" after I put it next to the compost bin. It was filled to the brim with fruit flies.

Oh yeah, I understood it was a "dew-to-dew" thing. I would say that a big pot of filiformis might give the binata a run for the...bugs!!!

I'm hoping to have a Wilkerson Bog leuco one day...years ago, back in the late 70's I happened upon Wilkerson's Bog and didn't know what it was...I was delivering truck tires to a commercial customer....Jones Sand & Gravel, I believe it was. Man, that's been a long time ago...I took a few pictures, but I was mostly interested in the "wild" flowers...I thought the plants were kinda of interesting, too!!!

Get some finlaysoniana seeds from the seed bank. You could almost build a fence with a small cluster of those.
