From personal experience, insufficient lights usually lead to lack of pitchers development. Or relatively smaller pitchers. Or only able to develope pitchers on one branch but not on the others branches (ie when nepenthes has basal shoots).

I would agree. IME, lack of pitchering and insufficient light tend to go hand in hand. Internode length (length of stem between successive leaves) is also affected by the amount of light. Less light results in longer internodes. More light gives shorter internodes and stouter stems.
