Thanks guys. I’m doing a little experiment, to see if you could really acclimate a N. Hamata to normal house conditions. I did want to see my chances of this before I got into. Still going to try but at a much slower pace than initially planned. Anyways will keep posted about this little project, thanks for the advice.
May 27 One months update:
June 27
Finally settled in and growing at 50% RH! July 27
Leaf jumps! August 27
Not surprised I don’t have a leaf yet Its been really bad for Humidity this month. September 28
28?!?! How dare I be a day late! Okay, okay, I forgot yesterday and by the time i remembered it was dark out Anyways, I am in the middle of acclimating it to my windowsill! Hooray! Not much growth because of this. October 27
So, after 1 month on the windowsill, it seems to be throwing out it’s first few pitchers under me! It also likes it so much here it decided to throw out an extra leaf to make up for last month- November 27
As you can see, we have pitchers!!! Yay! They both opened within 24 hrs too so, very cool. Hopefully the next one takes also. December 27
Very nice coloration of the pitchers and look! The tendril took! Can’t wait to see how big the next leaf gets… January 27
Hopefully the next leaf bounces back from that slight over exposure. Very happy to announce that we have stable pitcher production February 27
Popping a new pitcher! March 28
Ahh but it popped small! Hopefully we have better fortune this time round. April 28
Brought it and others outside. No surprise in losing pitchers. We’ll see what happens by next month. May 27
Pitcher production is back up with a bit of reddening!
Will be updating every 6 months now! November 29
I think I’m going to try something new; putting it under strong lighting and getting larger pitchers. Yes, it’s leaf size will be reduced however it should mature at the same rate as normal.
