Thanks guys. I’m doing a little experiment, to see if you could really acclimate a N. Hamata to normal house conditions. I did want to see my chances of this before I got into. Still going to try but at a much slower pace than initially planned. Anyways will keep posted about this little project, thanks for the advice👍.

Btw, for reference of growth habitat, here’s it 3 days later and the weather for the next week:

Hey sundew, thought I’d let ya know- I bit the bullet and built an evaporative cooler. It has lowered my temperatures by 10 degrees during the day and night. Pretty consistently at 76 day temps and 68ish at night. Very easy to make. Probably 30$ total. Might be an idea for ya if you have trouble.

Which evaporative cooler? Do you have a link to a guild on how to build it?

Yeah I can explain it right here!

I bought these two items. There are probably some cheaper items / alternatives that would work just fine, I just chose these. The fan I picked may or may not be too strong, but it works great right now.

Mxmoonant 350ml/H Ultrasonic Mist Maker Fogger Metal Atomizer with Removable Splash Guard for Water Fountain Pond Pot Rockery Sink https://a.co/d/2MXFGob

AC Infinity AXIAL 1225, Quiet Muffin Fan, 120V AC 120mm x 25mm Low Speed, UL-Certified for DIY Cooling Ventilation Exhaust Projects https://a.co/d/cvMAfzd

Some 5” duct tubing. Like the stuff for dryer exhaust.

And a Home Depot bucket.

First I cut two holes in the buckets lid that were smaller than the fans size and the duct tubing, then “screwed” the duct in one turn into the lid, and I just leave the fan right on top of the hole. The atomizer is inside the Home Depot bucket filled with water.
The duct goes into your grow tent or whatever ya got.

That's the plant I would need!

Really? Hmm. Course whether it would be within my means is yet another Q.
Yeah, I've never seen how much he sells them for, but I've heard he's been offered insane amounts of money.

Mine is dead/ dying (leaves turning black from the crown), my tent dried out for two days to 40% humidity / 90 degrees and it took a real quick turn for the worst, in addition, I think? it might have gotten some root rot- I changed all my plants to netted pots after I noticed what appeared to be root rot. I also think it might have done better if I had left it bagged. Oh well, I replaced it with a veitchii B and will likely not try again for a while.

I changed some wording because it was confusing.

I’d say it grows 1 leaf a month. It’s been really hardy for me which I’m very great full for. Chugging along happily :) I got it from carnivero who got it from wistuba ( Clone 1). I did notice that it had some shock when I got it but it’s been throwing out leaf jumps since.

Edit: Dug up the original link! https://www.carnivero.com/products/nepe ... ut-wistuba

Ok, I'll keep that clone in mind! Why didn't you get the supposedly easiest clone, BE-3380? And what size did you get? I think you had temps similar to mine, right?

I re-wrote some of the sentences- I was trying to type and do something else so it didn’t make sense. I believe the netted pot would have helped if I did it from the beginning (with the way I water), as well as keeping it bagged (to ensure high humidity) I changed the humidity of my tent from 90% down to 75-80%. My understanding is the hamatas really don’t like too many changes and love 90%+ humidity, so I suspect I may have been able to keep it I just did too many things. I didn’t get a 3380 because I couldn’t find one in stock 😜 my temperatures are 82 degree days, and 71 nights. When my wife closes the door to the office with my greenhouse, the temperature high rises to 85-87.
