It appears that my Sarr is outgrowing it's pot. I'm seeing roots growing out the drain holes and am reluctant to repot in the middle of summer. I'd like to wait until next season but don't want to damage the roots. Would a solution be to carefully pop out the whole contents of the pot and drop it into a larger pot with enough peat/Perlite to fill the gaps?

Yes, it’s called slip potting. But just because you see roots coming out doesn’t mean it’s time to repot. If the rhizome was pressing against the sides of the pot, then you may want to repot

Cool, so that's what slip potting is. The rhizome seems to be alright, the pot isn't swollen or bulging. I'll keep an eye on it. I didn't to disturb the plant, it's in the middle of a nice growth spurt. Thanks!

I've actually done slip potting before, I just never knew that's what it's called. Thanks for pointer to the tutorial.
