Sitting here, looking at my plants, a question popped up.
When receiving sarracenia plants through mail order, do you add any water to the pitcher?

Some do some don't. I add a smidgen to help, but that's all. Becareful of the sarracenia, too much liquid may break it. Usually, if their conditions are right, you don't need to. But I add a little to help draw the water into the pitcher.

Only with Sarracenia purpurea and rosea (I fill their pitchers about halfway). The other species/hybrids with vertical pitchers don't like having water inside. They will absorb the water to empty the pitchers.
