California carnivores has mentioned bleaching in natural strong light in a few comments, and would anyone care to explain why that happens?

Photooxidation results in destruction of chlorophyll [1]. Also, depending on the light spectrum, chlorophyll decreases while antioxidants (carotenoids, flavonoids, and anthocyanins) increase [2].
