Yes. Technically, it's a vine, so it will lean one way or another to a certain degree unless you stake it and tie it.

You could. Buy then you might run into issues with the nectar glands on the leaves causing issues with whatever surface it's on. Plus, the pitchers wouldn't hang properly, so wouldn't function as they should.

i have a 8 foot stake on my largest plant.
