You can always get a good used camera for cheap from a photography junkie... it's an excuse for them to upgrade! :D

For anyone wanting an SLR then i recommend the Canon 450D.. You can get them refurbished from Canon or from ebay etc for fairly low prices.. The camera is great to use and not too heavy and also has a great range of lenses... Photographers mainly use it as a back up camera.

For a lower price and a much smaller price you can get a Compact camera. The Canon G8 or G9 are great for this.. Amazing quality pictures. It also has Manual mode like an SLR so you can get used to the functions. I'm sure both have HD video which could be useful.

Those are some very nice photos, Devon. Which species of heliamphora is that in the bottom photo? It looks great. The cephalotus picture is striking and very well lit and exposed. What species of Drosera is that? Good looking plants.

Thankyou very much Matt, HB and Steve!! :D Steve, the heliamphora is an H. minor 'red form'. :) and the drosera is a tokeiansis seedlings, just fed it so it should burst with growth soon. I'm gonna post some more pics I took recently, just becasue. :mrgreen: and this time I'll label them. teehee

So is the Canon A590si still the best to get? Manual options, alternate software? Or is there a better model out there now? What about the G series?
