i woke up this morning to see that something ate someholes in my s.pupurea . what can i do to help prevent this again. Any help is appreciated..

Looks like slugs. Put some snail bait around and it'll get rid of them.
Also, your purp looks to be planted too deep, the rhizome should be exposed a bit otherwise you could run into rhizome rot.

Do you know any bait that is safe for the plants? im trying to dig out the growth rhizome as i dont want completely unearth the plant .
