I heard from people that pitcher plants should have 8 hrs of direct sunlight? is that true?

It depends on where you are and what type of plant. For neps, I've always heard 3 or 4 hours of full early morning sun and then dappled shade the rest of the day. I'm sure some of our resident nepenthes experts can clarify.

really depends on temps and they type of Nepenthes, at the moment i got a ventrata and a sanguinea in full sun in a basically a glass room, the windows do reflect and block a % of light so i guess its not true sun but they are doing good but very tan. The sanguinea has a 27inch+ leaf span and is very happy. the ventrata grew multiple 4 feet+ vines last winter in the same spot.

but i know this would cook a lot of other types of Nepenthes. I keep the rest of my collection in a west facing window, some behind larger plant for less light.
