Sarracenia Flower Pod

by Hurtrus » Sat Jan 11, 2020 5:23 am

Back in December (2019) I found a few of the death cubes on sale. Most have had a small amount of growth since replanting, but one has decided to do something a little different.
This is the growth point, the flower stalk is out of focus

Here is a picture of the top of the flower stalk.

Should I should cut the stalk so it will concentrate on leaves/pitchers/roots, or leave it and see what happens?

If it's fresh from a death cube, i'd want the plant to invest its resources in rhizome and pitcher growth.

Sometimes Sarracenias will throw out random stalks during early winter but if let to grow they usually turn out mutated in some way. You should snip it.

Thank you both for the reply and suggestion. I took that advice and have clipped that stalk.
