What is the best way to store live moss indoors? Can I just leave the moss in water underneath some fl. lights?

I'm assuming you mean sphagnum. The only reason to "soak" it in water is overnight the day you bring it home because it livens it up quickly (sort of like a jump start). The next morning/afternoon you can put it in a pot on top of dead LFS, peat/perlite, peat, peat/sand, etc. It'll settle into just about anything a CP will.

Place under fluorescents and keep it wet - top-water often, it likes oxygenation.

It can be propagated via cuttings if you're interested; look it up though, I think there's a specific way you have to do it.
