Hello,

A few months ago I noticed some unusual purple markings on the leaves of my Nepenthes talangensis x robcantleyi and was unable to identify the cause. The plant seems to be doing well, producing progressively larger (and more elaborate) pitchers, and the markings haven't appeared on newer leaves. Are they something I should be concerned about? If so, what should I do if they reappear?

I'm willing to take more photographs or give more details on the markings and my plant if necessary.

It looks like water residue to me... If you don't have it on the new leaves that would be my best guess, nothing to be concerned about! Especially if the pitchers are getting bigger, that's always a good sign!

Similar (but less dramatic) markings seem to be on some older leaves, but are absent on the newest leaf. I'm glad that you don't think they're anything to worry about, as I had started comparing my Nepenthes to photos of plants infected with viruses. Thanks for the diagnosis.
