Hey All,

I joined this group midway through in January of 2011 when I found myself the owner of a small and fragile VFT and had no idea how to look after it. I received some very useful advice here from some very generous people and put it to work.

Over the next few years, I replanted the original and its babies into new pots, blossoming the collection over and over until I had too many pots and too many carnivorous plants for me to keep wet in dry old Australia.

A couple of years ago, I whittled them down to one tray again to simplify things (and reduce the need to cart demineralised or distilled from the supermarket).

Anyway, I just wanted to say hi and thanks for all the advice. If the upload works, my small but proud collection, still going from 2011, should be visible for a peek.

Thanks again :)

PS. The tray is full of water because it just rained here.

Very interesting Sarr. Do you know if it's a mitchelliana, or was it sold as an unnamed cross?
-SundewWolf

It came to me via a friend who found out that I had VFTs and gifted it to me. I assume she bought it from a large nursery somewhere in Melbourne, but I know nothing about it otherwise. Kept the tag though, so hopefully the pic of the back of the tag is of some value.

On the front side of the tag it just says “Tropical Pitcher Plant” and has a (very faded) picture of some pitcher plants.

I’m guessing that everything on this tag is pretty generic information, but just in case, this is the front side:

Well you can toss the tag. It is not a Nepenthes. It is a Sarracenia. which is an American pitcher plant. Thing get mislabeled all the time at big box stores and nurseries,

I was going to say..that's a Serracenia (American Pitcher plant), not a Nepenthes (Tropical Pitcher plant). It was mislabeled. Looks great though. They're voracious bug eaters though...sure you know that.
