Which will germinate first?
Which will grow fastest?
Which will grow largest?
Which will be the best predator?
It's a race
I pulled some of my Arachnopus Drosera seeds out of the refrigerator today.
I put 10 - 20 seeds of each species into test tubes and filled them halfway up with distilled water.
They're sitting under lights with temperatures of 70(N) - 80(D) F. degrees.
Drosera Section Arachnopus consists of the Drosera indica Complex.
They are all Tropical Plants that exhibit an Annual growth pattern.
They sprout from seed, grow to maturity, flower, produce seed, and die, all in one season.
You have to collect the seed and start over every year.
These plants all look similar.
It is one of my favorite Drosera Sections.
Some of these species are newly discovered.
This section is still being explored with new discoveries expected.
The species I am germinating are as follow:
Drosera finlaysoniana from seeds produced by my plants.
Drosera hartmeyerorum from seeds produced by my plants.
Drosera indica "Red" from Binh Chau, Vietnam from another grower.
Drosera serpens from another grower.
Drosera serpens from seeds harvested today from my plants. (This one is a ringer)
I'll give it 10 days then start checking for germination.
Yeah, right!
You know I'll be checking them tomorrow morning and several times a day until they sprout.
Good growing,
Mike
