My amorphophallus collection has been growing steadily, but mostly with konjac plants. The plants all have grown a second, bigger leaf this year, even after having started relatively late. (they all started waking up around June) Is that normal? Do konjacs normally grow more than one leaf a year?
The two bigger ones, pictured, are substantially bigger than the first leaf. One of them even has an odd growing point looking structure at the base, which I have never seen before.
What I'm wondering is, Would a high-nitrogen fertilizer force the plants to grow extra, or even deformed leaves? I fertilize all my plants with an all-purpose plant food.
(In unrelated news- My bulbifer flowered for the first time this summer. :3 It must really like me!)
