Updating the procedure:

1) wash 10 min. in running water
2) wash 10 min in triclosan solution
3) wash 5 min in distilled water
4) wash 2 min in H2O2 3% solution
5) wash 5 min in distilled water
6) wash 5 min in NAClO 10% + tween20 solution
7) wash 5 min in distilled water
9) wash 5 min in distilled water

I thoroughly disagree. I have been using it for years as well as a "house-made" version to great success; though, it is, my no means, a panacea -- just another effective tool in the fridge . . .

I disagree with coline's post; and that cleaning regimen of yours is likely to kill many more delicate explant species. If you have access to PPM, use it by all means. I swear by its use and have maintained contamination rates below 2% for years; though, it is no substitute for good sterile technique. Also, the careful use of peracetic acid, can halve the time spent cleaning and can be more effective (recipes are available on this forum) . . .
