They did not give me much detail, but first, it is not necesary, then, Tween is also expensive, and third it is better to not take the chance on PPM

Updating the procedure:

1) wash 10 min. in running water
2) wash 10 min in triclosan solution
3) wash 5 min in distilled water
4) wash 2 min in H2O2 3% solution
5) wash 5 min in distilled water
6) wash 5 min in NAClO 10% + tween20 solution
7) wash 5 min in distilled water
9) wash 5 min in distilled water

I thoroughly disagree. I have been using it for years as well as a "house-made" version to great success; though, it is, my no means, a panacea -- just another effective tool in the fridge . . .

I disagree with coline's post; and that cleaning regimen of yours is likely to kill many more delicate explant species. If you have access to PPM, use it by all means. I swear by its use and have maintained contamination rates below 2% for years; though, it is no substitute for good sterile technique. Also, the careful use of peracetic acid, can halve the time spent cleaning and can be more effective (recipes are available on this forum) . . .
