Hello, there! It got pretty cold here in VA over the past few days. We finally had about 20 minutes of snow too! Haha. This is the first time I have had my plants outside over winter. I was just wondering at what point should I put a bag or cover over them to keep them healthy, if necessary? The sundews look like they didn't take the cold well. But I've read that they are tolerant of light frosts and should come back from the roots. The other plants are doing okay, but I want them to have the best conditions to continue to do so. Thanks!

It depends partly on your setup.

Below freezing (under 32 F) for more than an occasional cold evening is generally considered too cold for a flytrap, especially if its in a small pot.

In general, if the roots/rhizome freeze, they can die.

Some people put tarps over their CP's in the winter and dump mulch over the tarps to insulate them from the winter weather. I've even seen people use those styrofoam throwaway coolers.
