Hello everyone, Well my monkey cup arrived today in the post. They are Nepenthes Ventricosa x Talangensis highland hybrid. I have misted the plant. I have read conflicting information about what to do after the plant reached you through the post..My plant was posted quite carefully but the cups were packed in a way that the fluid would have come out. I have refilled the open cups. I will leave the closed cups.

Here are some photos. I would appreciate it if you looked over the photos and told me your thoughts to the condition of the plant. In one photo I have pictured a yellow spot on a leaf. Is this yellow spot something I should worry and do something about? Also some of the small pitchers are starting to yellow from the top of the pitcher. I get the impression this plant isn't in great condition. What do you guys think I should do about the yellow spots on the leaf and the yellowing small pitchers? Leave it a loan and see what happens? Treat it? If so with what? Or prune the small yellow pitchers off?

Any help appreciated.

If you need any more photos to be certain like a close up of anything, just say!

First off I am no expert, but have had Neps for a while now, so here is my 2 cents.

I generally always get info from the dealer on what type of growing conditions the plant is used to, then when I get it, I try to give it as close to that as I can. If you are going to have it in different conditions, I would slowly acclimate it to those conditions. I always hydrate pitchers, when I arrives. I put a little water while its getting conditioned, then at some point I put a live bug in it. By doing this it releases its digestive juices in the pitcher. Unfortunately ,mainly times pitchers brown and die after getting the plant, but don't worry it will make new ones soon enough. I would put some water in the pitchers and not prune them until they shrivel up.
The brown spots on the leaves I wouldn't worry about those to much. I doesn't look like like anything serious to me. Leaved brown sometimes, esp after shipping. You should keep your eye out for new leaves forming, that's a good indication that the plant is doing ok

your plant looks in fairly good shape, maybe a bit of shipment shock.
best of luck to you

Hello, thanks for the information.

After filling the pitchers with water and putting the plant outside next to the pond for high humidity, the outside temp is spot on for the Nepenthes highlanders as well. The plant is looking a lot more healthier. It has greened up, and all the pitchers are doing ok and it is even producing a new pitcher. All looks well, all I am doing in the way of care is misting it once every morning.

Hello here's an update. I have today potted on my Nepenthe's Hybrid into a bigger pot, in a glazed inside and out ceramic pot, designed for Orchids, only alteration I had to do was drill drainage holes in the bottom. For the soil mix I did 70% New Zealand long fibred Sphagnum Moss, 10% fine Orchid Bark, 10 % Perlite, 10% Fern Fibre. Then watered through the mix with rain water!
Here's a photo of my biggest Pitcher 5cm

Good point, it is quite a big pot one which will suit the rest of its life. So I think the Nepenthes wont get root bound and go near the holes. I would of thought watering from the top would flush it out anyway, like is advised with the care and keeping of other carnivorus plants, for washing out the salts etc
