Hi Miss Frizzles,

I have purchased many of your flytraps, I think they are great. I have noticed over time the stems become broader (no longer nice and thin). Also, the lovely red colour in the middle always fades away. This is obviously because of something I am doing, and I was wondering if you had any suggestions for how I could get the 1) then stems, and 2) red colour to generate again please?

Thanks :)

Beautiful flytraps! Nice that you're in growing season there in NZ. My few VFTs and Serracenia are preparing for dormancy here in U.S.
What soil are you using? Are you also using NZ LFSM I would assume?

"Miss Frizzles" last visited this website in June of 2012.

More intense light will give you the healthiest leaves/most colorful traps. Traps that do not feed and are not triggered much will produce the most color. That coloration will be most prominent in the fall and spring. Most flytraps have the least coloration and tallest leaves during the heart of the growing season.
