Like a lot of others here I'm getting some new plants from the seed bank. I've cared for a few sundews but I've never grown from seed. My main question was if I could germinate d. spatulata and d. capensis seeds on a sunny windowsill. I have a south west facing window that I plan on moving a majority of my collection to and I was hoping I could move the seeds there too.

Both of the ones you're getting are simply sow and grow, and they will do fine in a windowsill all year long. The seeds will germinate there as long as it's warmish. If it's still cold where you are, it could be considerably cooler by the window vs the rest of the house, slowing their germination.
However, in my experience, they do better exposed to sunlight that hasn't filtered through a window, direct and indirect. But, with Capes at least, when outside temps get to about 80°F, they start to decline. Again, that's my experience.
