Drosera regia has serious talents when it comes to tying itself up in a knot around captured prey.

I tossed a moth onto a medium sized ( 4 1/2 - 5 inch leaf length ) Drosera regia. It went extreme in wrapping itself around the bug. I think it's showing off for its new neighbors, regia seedlings grown from Fishman's favorite King Sundew named "Twister".

Good growing,
Mike

Maybe these things are evolving, gaining the power of sight and the ability to learn. They're learning knots by watching you tie your shoes.
Perhaps we should avoid dressing in front if these LGM's, Little Green Monsters.
Hell, before too long life will begin to imitate art and we'll have a 'dew or a 'trap, hopefully not a Nep, crying out "FEED ME SEYMOUR!". (If so, I really want one)
Take care,
Chef

Mike, Can you show us how it unwinds after? Curious if the leaf can recover after that contortion display.

If it straightens out, I'll post a photo.
I've never had a regia wrap around prey to this degree.

Good growing,
Mike

That is some crazy knotting. Had mine also twirl and such, but haven‘t had a big preys such as that. At first I thought capes are more showy, but yours had blown my expectations! Really cool!

Cheers,
Oli
