I've been keeping a close eye on my pot of Capensis for a few weeks now and I noticed that the new leaves don't even produce that much dew anymore. I thought it might've been an acclimatisation issue as previously suggested but I think it might be the amount of water. The new leaves are still green but only some of their tentacles have dew.

The summer here now is very hot, reaching the near 40C and with humidity as low as 13%. I was thinking of adding an extra cm in my tray of water to help with my plant.

Yes, I've found that to an extent the more water and light the more dew. Sometimes if my capes are low on water they'll lose a bit of dew.

Mine quit dewing up when the temperature got high and they were in full sun. I moved them to part shade and they were much happier.

That's what I've noticed with Cape sundews too. They do great in cooler temperatures in full sun but when it gets hot they tend to "sulk" and not make much dew.
