I really like the looks of that cultivar. Maybe someday I can persuade someone to sell one of those to me. (Hint Hint)

Hah, well, perhaps with your help from the NaDCC sterilization protocol, I'll be able to get it in TC this year and send you one next year as a thank you :)

Has this cultivar been around a while? I have never heard of it?!
Is it something new?

Did you get this one from eBay?
No, no one in the US sells this clone yet. I got it in a trade with the European grower who registered it with the ICPS.

Umm, yeah they do... You do

Also, will you be selling in the worldwide store?

In the original post I link to the cultivar page that lists all of the registration information:
Dionaea 'Alien' Venus fly trap

From that page:
Registration Date: August 2010

Dionaea muscipula 'Alien' was found by Guillaume Bily while walking through Carniflora during their open day in May 2008

No, I don't sell this clone yet. I have only one plant. I hope to sell it sometime in the future and I'll likely sell it in the international store as well.

I'd never heard of this variety before and when I googled it, some of the first results were right here at the FTC forums! I have to agree with everyone else that it's a variety I'd love to have. Sure hope it becomes available here in the U.S. sometime soon. The only way it could possibly be any more awesome is if there was another smaller trap that came shooting out of each mouth to catch its prey! BTW, be careful when you're cutting those leaves off for tissue culture, Matt. It might have acid for blood!

Hah, right! I already burned myself trying to get Alien in TC last year. Unfortunately I wasn't successful. Hopefully I can get it going this spring as there are lots and lots of US growers that want this awesome European variety.

Sorry to hear you got burned by its acid, Matt! What a shame you don't have the queen that would just lay a bunch of eggs for you. Not sure where you could get volunteers for the gestation period though...!
