Hi all.

just wondering the following, once the traps have started to decay slightly can you remove them?

Also do you cut them right back at the bottom of the leaf?..

Got 3 large traps on the traps that have started to decay after feeding with mealworms.

Many thanks Jamie

Yes, it's normal for the traps to die after feeding 2-3 times.. new traps will take it's place..
I wouldn't encourage you to feed your flytrap.. maybe once a month with 2 mealworms..
You can cut them or leave them, it's up to you..

I try to keep the traps on as long as possible and then just cut the black part of the trap off, leaving anything green to do their photosynthesis thing!

Peace!

Hi guys.

Thanks for the replies,I've snip them off from the bottom of the leaf...my venus has a lot of smaller heads under the larger heads ranging from 8-12mm will these grow...What is confusing me is there is larger traps growing from the centre of the trap....Hope this makes sense..

Many thanks Jamie

You could have more than one plant in there jamie..
That;s why your seeing such a big difference inb trap sizes..
Just leave them for now, before winter you can repot and seperate the 2 plants

As Dave (English Springer) mentioned, it's better for the plant to leave as much green leaf area as possible, and trim off only the portion of the leaf that has already dried somewhat and turned black. :)
