I sowed some seeds of D. auriculata about 3 weeks ago and today I noticed the first little seedling growing. I’m really excited as this is my first attempt at growing tuberous Drosera. I hope more pop up soon.

I just crossed my fingers and it worked. The guy I got them from said these are real easy to germinate so I didn’t treat them. I’ll be using GA3 on the ones I’ll be receiving from the seed bank though. I’ll probably do half the seeds with GA3 and half without just to see if it makes a difference.

Its so cute! I have some auriculata seeds I put on some LFS and a wet square cotton pad. I put some maxsea on the cotton pad to see if it would do anything. Got the seeds about a week ago! I hope they sprout.. I have some seeds still but I am waiting for the sand I ordered to come before I sow those.

I think this pot is just 1:1 peat:perlite. There may be a little sand in it too though. I put it in a ten gallon aquarium I use to germinate seeds and gemmae. It’s totally closed off so 100% humidity and lighting is one T5HO about 5 inches above the pots. Once I get 2-3 leaves on plants I usually take them out and put them on one of my racks at household humidity.

Edit: Wow I just noticed this was my 1000th post. Cool.

I germinated D. auriculata in March (really late to be doing so). Took about a month for germination, but needed no treatment or extra humidity. Powerfed them so they'd have enough nutrients to build a big tuber for the summer. Some other tuberous Drosera, like D. rupicola, like cool temps to germinate. I didn't get good germination with rupicola to germinate till nights were reaching right around 50 and days in the 60s.
