I have a few capensis 'Baines Kloof' from seed courtesy of Mike (thanks!). I have been trying to start a few more via floating leaf pulls, but have not received any strikes from them. I have also harvested a flower stalk that had no seeds.

Would like to hear from members that have propagated this one. I'm wondering if its the wrong time of the year, too young a plant or just specific to this plant that's preventing propagation. Does it need cross pollination from another plant for seed?

Thanks -- this one is too nice not to propagate and share.

I've propagated Drosera capensis Bain's Kloof from seed produced by self pollination.
No other Sundews were in flower at the time.
I have also propagated from leaf cuttings tossed into distilled water.
I don't remember when I did that although I have taken leaf cuttings year-round from Drosera.
I have had a couple pop up mysteriously in the pot, so it's a safe bet that those were generated from the Mother Plant's roots.

My Mother Plant is getting too big and tall, she's about 3 years old.
The stem is 5 inches long and the entire plant is about 6 - 7 inches tall.
You can see a 6 inch ruler in the tank next to the plant.
This time of year leaf size shrinks back considerably.
This Spring, I will think about hacking up my Mother Plant into pieces for propagation.
I can cut up the stem and roots and end up with a Bain's Kloof forest.
Or, I might just keep her going to see how big she can get.

I have also been attempting leaf strikes, same method, and this one seems to be a little more stubborn than some of the other Capensis cousins. The one I was lucky enough to receive also sprouted a young one from the roots close to it,unless there was one there lurking. I may repot mine soon and possibly check for additional roots? I do not wan to harm it in any way. The "Twins" are doing well..
Help! My VFT is dying

So i can keep all vft outside 24/7 in zone 6?
