A rabbits foot is one of my favorite ferns and of course a Staghorn. This guy is huge and I've taken a couple rhizome cuttings and placed them on some moist sphagnum which they have started to grow new fronds. I'm happy about that. I have a staghorn fern on order but its going to be a small plant.

I placed a mature purpurea just for size reference. I'm not sure how old this plant is but its completely encased its pot.

I love amaryllis!
I have about 20 planted, and about 1/2 of these are hybrids I made. They are in the ground, and are just starting to shoot up flowers now!

Yours looks good!
How long have you had it?

By the way, it is the genus Hippeastrum.

The amaryllis bulb was planted about three weeks before the photo was taken. It flowered extremely quickly. I did have it sitting on a heat mat which I think explains the fast flowering.

Does anyone know much about kangaroo paw ferns (Microsorum diversifolium). Its similar to the rabbits foot fern in relation to it's rhizomes. The one I have is sending out rhizomes like the rabbits foot fern surrounding the pot. I was wondering if its better to leave it pot bound or should I re-pot it. I personally like the look of the ferns as they take over the pot. I'm assuming its not going to hurt anything leaving it in the basket. If it gets to big I can divide it and re-pot it.

Got a few plants from Wellsprings. Every plant looked very healthy. I'll post some other pictures later when I get some time to take them. But I wanted to share this one. I had a Staghorn fern before but didn't have much luck. I kept it in the pot it came in and I think it rooted. This time I mounted the one I got. I removed it from the container it was in and rinsed off all the soil. I got a piece of cork wood that had a hallowed out spot and drilled a couple holes to stick a wire through to secure the plant to the cork wood. I placed a layer of sphagnum in the hallowed out section and place the fern on top. Placed another layer of sphagnum and wrapped a wire around it all, to hold it on. I was so excited to get it all together I forgot to attach a wire/hook on the back so I could mount it if I wanted. I think it looks pretty good myself. Hopefully this one will do a lot better then my first one. Should get a lot better air movement around the base with the cork wood and sphagnum. Of course I'll keep updating pictures as they grow.

I love these ferns as well. The camera on my phone doesn't give the color justice. Its goes from purple to silver and then green. The next fern I'm going to get will be an Autumn Fern

Well I tackled this guy yesterday. It was a little difficult to re-pot but I got it done with little damage to the palm itself and I walked away with minimal bandage usage. It was heavy, prickly and and awkward. Only two of the leaves got damaged and a few thorns at the base of the trunk broke off. Even with my gloves on I still was poke which hurts more today then it did yesterday.

Another Bromeliad with an interesting flower. I wonder if it'll extend out of the rosette.

This flowers has peaked my interest since I've seen it. Apparently it is a flower stalk that has multiple flowers that open and close fairly quick. They seem to open for maybe an hour or two then start to close again.

I love staghorns! we used to have a huge one, got up to 3 feet around until we moved out of that house, we had it hanging by a chain from a big oak but unfortunately we heard that it snapped the chain one night during a storm and broke on the floor :/ I still have quite a few out back too
