hi all,
I've come across this "white peat moss" by a European manufacturer called "Stender"
at one of my local plant stores. (I live in Europe)
I don't think it is commonly used with carnivorous plants.
but I wanted some expert opinions on weather this could be mixed with the usual, silica sand and perlite
to make the VFT happy
or not ?
here are some photos with some information on the peat ...

thanks in advance 8-)

ImageI've recently got something similar to this, file is too large to upload picture but it states: 75% white peat part 1(7-15mm) 25% white peat part 0 (0-7mm) and a few other things apart from that. . Ive only started with these type of plants. Ive got two VFT and one drosera capensis alba and im finding it difficult to get to grips with what sustrate to use. Ive got live sphagnum moss, this white peat and 5l of perlite to play around with. Did you ever use the white peat? Results? If anyone can help that would be fantastic!

Thank you!!!! :)

So, just plant VFT straight in sphagnum moss? And then water it like normal from the bottom standing in aprox. 1cm of water? I live southern spain, hot summer approching, the sphagnum will handle daily direct sunlight?

Why does the drosera need peat moss when VTF doesnt?

Again, big thank you.

Read the articles provided by Matt here. They are really helpful. I would be careful with the moss because many brands call peat moss just decomposed matter. Make sure it is sphagnum peat moss.

You can plant the drosera in peat as well. Live (or dried) sphagnum works for both drosera capensis and venus flytraps. I have both of mine in it and they are fine.
