Last year I had a terrible problem with squirrels uprooting my flytraps until I made myself a makeshift removable protective screen for them, after which my plants starting taking off. So naturally I decided to do the same for my new planter full of B52's for this years growing season. I made it out of cedar and vinyl window screen that you can pick up at any box store. Inside the cedar planter is a plastic liner which is nice and deep and has holes for drainage. The cedar should help keep the soil temps a bit more stable during heat waves, likewise the screen should act as a shade cloth although you can see in the picks that at least 80 percent sunlight is still getting through. I have it sitting on the outside part of my deck rail facing south in full sun. Anyways, just thought I'd share this with everyone in case others are experiencing similar issues with curious critters.
