Am I correct that I read somewhere (not sure if on this forum or just another growing site) that it is possible to propagate some Drosera species from the flower stalk? I just received some test tubes and if it is possible I want to put some in the test tubes and some in wet lfsm to see which, if either do better.

I cut the Drosera flower stalk when it is about two inches tall. I pop it into a water filled test tube under lights and they usually start producing visible buds in about 30 days. This is a great process for those species that would normally need two genetically distinct specimens to produce viable seed.

I just potted up some D. binata "Multifida Extrema" that I propagated from flower stalk cuttings.

Its really simple just put the stalks in water give it light and it will happen. younger more tender stalks will pop faster.

Great. Thanks all. So is it any quicker than using LFSM or live moss? Also, about what temp should I keep my grow tent at? Being in glass I know the water will get warmer and do not want to boil them. I have several stalks in test tubes now. They were a bit taller than a few inches but what the heck, giving it a shot.

Received. Thanks!
