I usually use a mix of about 60 - 40 peat moss / perlite but it is whatever you feel comfortable using .
Some people only use 100 peat moss and others will add vermiculite / grit or sand to their mix .
What are you planning to grow in it ?

I think most growers here, use a mixture of 1 part peat, another part perlite. Maybe the 80% moss, and 20% perlite might be a bit wet, but it should be fine.

I would go towards more sand if you can. It drains the best. I've had some issues with pure peat being a too good for fungus etc.

Hi chickenmanben95,

When it comes to soil mixes for Dionaea, there are a wide variety of opinions.

When repotting your plant, use a standard carnivorous plant soil mix of 1 part peat moss and 1 part perlite. Peat moss adds acidity and retains moisture, while perlite provides drainage.
Some growers like to mix in silica sand for drainage which is fine also.

I would highly recommend trying different soil mixes to see what works best in your growing area. Just make sure that peat moss is at least 50% of the growing medium.

I hope this helps and please ask, should you have any more questions.

You've got a bunch of different responses to this question and I just want to add one more different response. There are as many different type of soil mixes as there are growers. I like the "standard CP mix" of 50:50 peat to perlite. I've also used a wide variety of ranges of less perlite down to none and they all seem to work fine for me.

As Giovanni stated, it's best to experiment with different mixtures and see what works best in your area. I would say that your mix of 80% peat moss and 20% vermiculite is a fine and safe place to start.
