I am growing my venus flytrap under a smart light and the compact bulb is 9 watts of full spectrum light.Should the distance between the light and the leafs be messured from the leaf to the top of the bulb? Thanks.

I agree with matt, however it also depends on the strength (watts) of the bulb. Basically the stronger bulb you have the more distance you can go, however keep in mind ever inch or away from the bulb you go, you decrease the strength by almost half. I keep my plants about 8 inches away, and they are 105 watt cfls :). Hope this helps!
